Fashion shouldn’t cost the earth

Forests, soil, air and water are being depleted or polluted to make our clothes. Meanwhile, the millions of people who make them face low wages, discrimination, unsafe working conditions, harassment and abuse.

Our clothing consumption has more than doubled in the past 15 years yet each garment is kept half as long!

Fashion has a huge impact on our planet but it can also be a powerful tool for positive change.

Sustainable Fashion Translation

If we work together to lessen fashion’s impact we can help generate economic opportunity as well as provide environmental and societal benefits.

As a Spanish to English translator specialising in sustainable fashion I can spread awareness of your ethical fashion brand or organisation to English speakers. I will ask the relevant questions, learn about your particular business and then convey what you really want to say.

Why work with me?

Experience in environmental sustainability

Thanks to my marketing background at Greenpeace Spain and Friends of the Earth, I was able to gain practical insight into how brands strategise, market their businesses and communicate their campaigns and corporate values. I learned we all have the power to drive positive change. Working for small, independent clients, I want to help change the way our clothes are sourced, produced and purchased, by raising public awareness of the fashion industry’s most urgent problems.

Together we can mobilise citizens across the world to demand a cleaner, safer, fairer, more transparent and more responsible fashion industry.

Experience in fashion

Over the years I have translated for dozens of fashion and retail brands, working in casual and formal fashion, accessories, skincare, footwear and homewear.  I am familiar with the dynamics and terminology of the sector as well as the many standards, initiatives and commitments put in place to regulate and improve their social and environmental impact.

I’m here to support you and help your fashion business achieve lasting, sustainable success.

Commitment to ethical values and environmental protection

My passion for environmental sustainability dates back to the ‘90s when I worked for Greenpeace and then Friends of the Earth.  Currently, I collaborate with Fashion Revolution in Spain, a global movement calling for greater transparency, sustainability and ethics in the fashion industry. What matters to me most are projects that have a positive impact.

Think of me as a partner not just a supplier, working together to influence consumers and brands and encourage circular, sustainable fashion that unlocks value in the discarded.

Commitment to professional development

As a member of professional associations for language professionals, I am committed to education and research in my specialist fields and developing my translation skills.

Learning about the organisations, standards and policies in place to improve fashion’s impact has shown me that an innovative industry can provide hope for a more sustainable future.

I have completed three in-depth courses:

The environmental and social challenges of the global fashion industry are huge but we can all take steps everyday that will lead to change.

It makes absolutely zero sense to put so many resources into producing a garment, sending it halfway around the world to be sold, wearing it only a few times, and then sending it halfway around the world again for it to just end up spewing all of those resources up in the atmosphere and into people’s lungs, soil, and waterways.

You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.
